My hands wrapped around his and he smiled at me, making my insides turn to mush. I was still trying to catch my breath and there he went, taking it away again. My legs felt heavy, like they weighed me down against the bed. If I thought I couldn’t walk well before, I most certainly couldn’t do it now. “What's a shower?I don’t think my legs will work either, but they didn’t work very well before,” I said with a chuckle. His hand fell over my amulet, which always glowed pink when he was around or when his face entered my mind. I didn’t know why, but it was brighter now that he was so close to me, and it faded to a lighter shade, yet still remained glowing, the moment he moved off the bed. He walked around the bed to pull me to my feet, and my legs shook trying to gain balance as he wrapped his arms around my waist, keeping me steady. His lips met my forehead and he moved to the side of me, not letting me go until we reached what he called the shower. I leaned against the shower wall as he turned on the water, which filled the room with steam. I leaned my body into his as the hot water poured over both of our bodies. He held me like that for a long time, and I never felt safer. We wrapped our bodies in towels after getting clean, and he led me to the kitchen table.

I sat in one of the wooden chairs he pulled out for me. Moved my bottom against the smooth surface." Wait here," he said while he made me the best meal of my life. He was pulling things out of cabinets and setting them on a glowing light which he called a stove. It was weird how humans prepared their food, as not much preparation was needed in the ocean. I was a bit nervous until the gooey yellow warm food melted into my mouth, and it was the most delicious thing I’d ever tasted. He poured more on to my plate, “They are called eggs. I hoped you would like them. There is more where that came from.”

My wet hair laid in a braid, falling down my back as it dripped water down my skin, which still took some getting used to. Water didn’t drip against your skin when you were fully in the water. He told me to wait in the kitchen as he changed the bed sheets and then asked me if I wanted to cuddle and watch a movie. I had no idea what any of that meant until I was on the bed, wrapped in his arms, with bright pictures of people running across the screen in front of us. We watched movies until we both fell asleep in one another’s arms. I woke up from my skin itching me awake, and I ran my fingers along my dry, peeling skin. I needed to be back in the water and fast. I wasn’t meant to be out of it too long even with the amulet. The magic only allowed me so much freedom. It was as if Caleb sensed my distress as his eyes opened toward me with a look of worry, “What’s wrong?”

I put his hand to my skin, “Something is happening, it’s as if I’m drying out. I think I need to go back into the ocean. I think I need to go back home.”

Panic filled his eyes. “Okay, well I’ll go back with you, and we can spend the day in the water together and then come back.”

My eyes watered as much as I tried hard to hold back the tears. ” And then what? What if someone sees us together? I can’t risk it. I think I should go back alone.”

He ran his hand through his hair as if that mind of his was trying to construct a plan that would solve all our problems, but then his shoulders slumped, and his back fell against the headboard. “As long as you are in human form, the humans would think nothing different. They would just assume we were going for a daily swim.”

I shook my head, “It’s not the humans I’m worried about.”

  Caleb

Chills went through my spine at his response, and as much as I didn’t want to, I knew I had to let him go. I walked him back to the spot I found him, but I didn’t get into the water with him. He kissed me long and hard, and I knew this was a goodbye kiss. I didn’t want it to be. This couldn’t be the end. I couldn’t continue to walk these beaches alone knowing there was just water that stood between us. I would swim the waters every night if only just to be able to get a glimpse of my beautiful and majestic creature from the sea. His clothes hit the sand as he moved toward the waves. The water touched his feet, and he looked back to smile at me with his now loose hair blowing around him. He moved into the water until I could no longer see him, the only thing visible was the ripples of the water as he moved beneath it. I could still see the amulet glowing in my mind, almost as if it called to me, but once I was back in my home it faded. I didn’t want it to because I wanted to hold onto every bit of him that I could. I rubbed my nose into my sheets that still smelled of him and closed my eyes, hoping sleep would take me soon.

My eyes opened wide when I felt the warm and wet mouth on my cock. Emery’s beautiful green eyes met mine, and he took me further into his mouth. I didn’t know when he got back or how, but I didn’t care. He was here with me where he belonged, and I felt the once broken pieces of my heart fusing back together. He released me with a loud pop before crawling up my body, and his amulet was missing from his neck and his eye grew dark, “Caleb.”

His voice suddenly felt distant, as if he was much further away than he had been before, “Find me Caleb. I need you.”

I lifted my body to move my face closer to his, attempting to rest my hand on his face but hitting air instead as he slipped away from me, all the while as he reached out his hands, “Caleb, help me.”

My eyes opened to darkness; it was still nighttime, and there was no sign of Emery anywhere. It was as if he was never here to begin with, and even his scent from the sheets had faded. I turned on the lamp nearby, coming to the realization that it was nothing more than a dream, but it had felt so real. He felt so real, and so did the terror in his voice. I got to my feet and slipped on some clothes and shoes not knowing what direction I was going in, but let my body guide me like it did before. The sky was darker than normal, almost as if it had fewer stars than usual. I removed my shoes and walked further into the sand until my feet were met with the ocean’s cold water. I didn’t stop there. I didn’t know what I was doing or what I planned to do once in the water. I was dumb going in there without my diving gear. I wouldn’t get far by swimming, as soon my arms would get tired and give out, and I would be stuck in the middle of the ocean, but I didn’t care. I kept going anyway until my whole entire body was in the water and my arms began to move in front of me, taking me further into the sea.

I kept swimming and swimming, and it was almost as if I could feel Emery the more I swam so I didn’t stop. My arms got tired like I expected they would, and my body tried to stay afloat, but exhaustion sunk in, making my body do the same into the water. My eyes closed as I tried my best to stay above water. I turned around to begin swimming back, but my limbs felt heavy, and I was sinking instead of swimming. I was waiting for the ocean to fill my lungs, but as soon as I released the last of my breath, my mouth was met with someone, and I was breathing in Emery. Tentacles and long arms wrapped around me, and I didn’t have to open my eyes to know it was him. My body was being lifted with his until our faces were above water. He pulled away, and I opened my eyes, taking in a deep breath of air instead of a mouthful of water. “You’re okay,” I gasped.

He tilted his head to the side, “Why wouldn’t I be? What are you doing here? Are you insane, you could have died!”

I placed my hand on his face, and hoped he wouldn’t disappear when I did, “I needed to see you. I had a dream, and you were calling to me.”

He rested his hand on mine, “Well now that you found me and can see that I’m just fine, you need to go back to land. Go home Caleb, you don’t belong here. It isn’t safe.”

I wrapped my hands around the smoothness of his tentacles, feeling the suctions as they wrapped around me. “I don’t feel right when you aren’t near me. I need to be wherever you are. I don’t care what the risks are. The emptiness inside me when you are gone is much worse than any risk I take. I was already drowning before I entered the water. I’d rather drown beside you than without you.”

Smiling wide, his hands ran through my hair before he caressed my face and pressed his lips to mine. Our bodies sank back into the wa
ter and my body grew warm with every touch and kiss we shared. His tentacles moved up and down my body as we moved in the water, keeping us not too far from the surface. My fingers slid between his tentacles, feeling him everywhere my hands could reach. His mouth vibrated against mine as I ran my fingers over the tiny nubs of his nipples. His two long tentacles slid inside my shirt and shorts and I didn't stop them, enjoying the sensation from the suctions on my skin. Sliding between my cheeks, one pressed against my hole, almost making my mouth lose its grasp on his. The second one slipped inside the front of my pants, wrapped itself around my hard, aching cock, tugging and jerking in slow movements. I writhed against him as he moved us above water again. I tilted my head back against the waves, gasping for air. I had never let anyone inside me before, but I needed to feel him everywhere. One tentacle, already producing its own lubricant, slipped inside my tight, clenching hole.

My body shook against his as he made his way past the ring of muscles at my entrance, hitting my prostate. I went boneless against him as he pulled in and out in quick, thrusting motions, hitting the right spot every time as his other tentacle jerked my cock in perfect motion, almost causing me to scream out. The sounds of the ocean around us may have not even been enough to hide my sounds of pure satisfaction. I moaned into his mouth as it connected with mine again. My body lost all control and went lifeless wrapped in his, as I came hard in the water from pleasure. My lips trembled against his as I tried to come down from my orgasm, still completely overtaken by bliss. His tentacle slipped from inside as the other released my now spent cock. I thought I would be weirded out by what we just did, but I was already wanting a repeat. The connection to him was what I was missing more than anything.

My body felt boneless, and it was all I could do to float there, letting my body enjoy every bit of ecstasy that remained. His hands wrapped around the back of my head as his tentacles continued to hold my body up in the water. My eyes opened to a look of worry on his face, as he brought my face close to his, “Are you okay? I didn’t hurt you did I?”

I couldn't manage more than an animalistic sound at my first attempt at responding so I tried again, and this time I answered with shaking words, “No. I’m absolutely perfect.”

He smiled against my lips before I was met with more kisses and the intrusion of his tongue. I was so lost in him, I didn't notice us moving in the water until we were already touching the ocean's sand. He dragged our bodies to land, with his tentacles sprawled out around me. There wasn’t another person in sight and the air grew cold around us. His eyes glowed in the moonlight, and he peered down at me as my back laid flat against the sand. The stars shone brightly in the sky, but all I could focus on was the light that bounced off his skin. He was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen, and I could get lost in the sight of him for hours. His tentacles traced shapes on my skin produced by the light shining off his amulet. It was brighter tonight, almost blinding. His skin appeared to glow with it. “I don’t want to leave you,” he whispered.

My hands found his face, “Then don’t.”

His smile fell, “I wished it was that simple, but I don’t belong on land any more than you belong in the ocean.”

My thumb caressed his cheek, “But I don’t belong anywhere you aren’t. We will find a way, no matter what it takes. I can always meet you halfway.”

The corners of his lips curl up, “What if it becomes too much for you and you find something better.”

“That’s impossible. Nothing I ever do for you is too much because there is nothing better. I’ve been looking for you my whole life, and now that I found you, there isn’t anything I won't do to keep you.”

His hands wrapped around his amulet “Okay.”

Just like that a promise was made between us, and I came back to the same secluded spot every other day, and he was always there waiting for me, whether it was hidden beneath the water in natural form or laying on the sand taking his human shape. It always felt like when we met for the first time, and each kiss and caress we shared was better than the last. We spent many nights and mornings sharing moments of pleasure and contentment before being wrapped in one another's arms, until it was time to part again. Every time I left him, my body was already missing his presence. How I craved to hold him in my bed and have him writhing against my bedsheets again. Even if it was pointless, I still clung to the hope I would one day have him there forever. He was able to last longer out of the water, the more and more he came to meet me, and that alone was enough to reassure me that one day my dreams would become a reality. For now, I would do whatever it took to make this work because he had already consumed my heart fully. He kissed me goodbye above the water, skin shimmering in the sunlight. His last words shook me to my core in the best way, “I love you, my beautiful human,” and I loved him deeply and truly as well, and I would show him this by continuing to meet him halfway. Always fighting against every obstacle that came our way. Fighting against the current.
